The aim is to provide SFU Master’s students with a place where they can receive training in therapeutic care, under the supervision of professionals. This support center offers affordable psychological follow-up to people suffering from existential difficulties or psychological disorders, referred for the most part by hospitals and medical-social action structures (CMP, associations such as La Croix Rouge, Emmaüs, etc.). Interaction with patients from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds helps students integrate and put into practice the theoretical foundations acquired during their training.
The ethical dimension of this support center is a core value at SFU, which, in line with the goals of the World Health Organization, aims to place mental health at the heart of public health concerns.
Accessible to all our students from the 1st year of the Master’s program, the aim is to enable students to practice in a setting close to their future profession. In this way, they experience face-to-face consultations for at least a year. All students take part in compulsory group supervisions by teachers and psychologists (supervisions take place twice a month and last 3 hours).
The in-house center is open to anyone wishing to receive psychological support. Access to SFU-Solidaire consultations is subject to the following income conditions:
After an initial free consultation, 45-minute sessions are held weekly by a single therapist. The therapist commits to a minimum of one year.
SFU-Solidaire therapists in training are volunteers. They are signatories to the “Code of Ethics”, which sets out the rights and duties of professionals with regard to patients. They are bound by professional secrecy and participate in regular, compulsory supervision.
